Title IX & Studying Abroad

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational programs, which includes sexual harassment or any acts of sexual misconduct. Title IX requires the University, upon becoming aware of any incident of sexual harassment and misconduct to respond appropriately to protect and maintain the safety of the University community, including students, faculty and staff. 

Title IX includes Georgetown students studying abroad. If you have experienced or wish to report sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, or stalking, please contact the appropriate Title IX Deputy Coordinator who can assist in arranging resources, support, academic and protective measures, and discuss reporting options. Please note that Deputy Title IX Coordinators are not confidential.
